Dual networks: how does knowledge network embeddedness affect firms' supply chain learning?

Purpose To explore the mechanism that shapes firms' supply chain learning (SCL) practices, this study examines relationship between knowledge network embeddedness and their SCL practice in a network, as well moderating role of cohesion relationship. Design/methodology/approach Using patent application data partner information from 869 listed firms 2011 2020 China, uses fixed-effect regression models to reduce endogeneity problems by controlling for individual heterogeneity effects cannot be observed over time. Findings Firms' has an inverted U-shaped effect on SCL, non-linear is conditional cohesion, which strengthens (weakens) positive (negative) SCL. Practical implications The findings show managers can reconcile downsides fostering greater cohesion. Originality/value Drawing pluralism perspective, contributes literature extending research context antecedents single-network setting dual-network setting. It extends perspective showing not only but also negative transfer one another.
